Leiden Alumni Meetings in Brazil

A delegation from Leiden University visited Brazil from 14 to 18 March 2016. Together with representatives of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brazil Leiden University organized 2 alumni meetings at the residencies of the Dutch Consuls General in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and a lunch in Brasilia.

Alumni meetings in Cape Town and Pretoria

Leiden University organizes an alumni meeting in Cape Town and Pretoria. Alumni (graduates or former exchange students) living in and around Pretoria are more than welcome to join this alumni meeting.

Are you going to make a difference?

Scientists, lecturers and students at Leiden University do their best every day to make a difference, with their teaching and their research. One such lecturer is Professor Ton Liefaard, who gives his students important knowledge in his lectures and guides them in their studies. And Professor Corrie Marijnen, who is developing a cancer treatment that has fewer side-effects for patients.

Jip and Janneke according to Jiahui Jiang

Jiahui Jiang (re)translates Dutch children’s books like Jip and Janneke – Yiyi and Yaya – into Chinese. She teaches Dutch at the Communication University of China in Beijing and graduated in Dutch Studies at Leiden.

The Invasion of the Dutch East Indies

Between 1966 and 1980, the War History Office of the National Defence College of Japan (now the Centre for Military History of the National Institute for Defence Studies) published the 102-volume Senshi Sōsho (War History Series). These volumes give a detailed account of the operations of the Imperial Japanese Army and the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Second World War.

Cleveringa meetings for Leiden alumni all over the world

During the Second World War, on 26 November 1940, Professor Cleveringa protested against the dismissal of two Jewish colleagues. Together with the Cleveringa Committees all around the world LUF yearly organizes a series of Cleveringa meetings around this time to commemorate this famous speech.
